About Dan

Dan Parks is a native of Pasadena, California. He has worked as an organist, pianist, and teacher for the past 15 years. He holds the following degrees and credentials:

  • Doctor of Musical Arts with a major in Organ Performance from the Thornton School of Music of the University of Southern California

  • Graduate Certificate in Organ Performance from the Thornton School of Music

  • Master of Music in Organ Performance, with special honors, from the Cleveland Institute of Music

  • Colleague of the American Guild of Organists professional certification

  • Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Case Western Reserve University

Dan is a passionate music teacher. In lessons, he works to provide each student with techniques, strategies, and skills to meet the challenges of a particular musical work or exercise. He likes to select method books, repertoire pieces, and teaching techniques to suit the strengths, weaknesses, and personality of each student. Students and their families generally find Dan to be a positive, upbeat, and patient teacher.

Outside of music, Dan enjoys hiking, road trips, and learning about the history of California and the western United States. He volunteers at a railroad museum near Riverside, where he helps to maintain and operate historic steam locomotives.
